When I first started using social media tools like Pinterest and Instagram, I mainly saw them as ways to connect with friends. Over time, I realized they could also help me build a Personal Learning Network. On Pinterest, I began following teachers who shared creative classroom management ideas and lesson plans. On Instagram, I connected with other education majors and found accounts that post strategies for teaching reading and math. These interactions have been helpful because I am learning from people with real classroom experience, and it makes me feel more prepared for my future career. I think these platforms will continue to help me as a teacher by giving me access to new ideas and keeping me updated with best practices.      When I think about the digital divide, I realize that I was fortunate to attend a very tech based school. Every student had their own iPad, and most of our work was completed digitally instead of on paper. This gave me a lo...

One technology implementation issue that I think is important is cyberbullying. Students sometimes use technology in negative ways, and this can make others feel unsafe in the classroom environment. To address this issue, I would set clear expectations about technology use and make sure students know there are consequences for using devices to harm others. I would also include digital citizenship lessons that show students how to use technology responsibly and respectfully, so they understand the impact their actions can have on others.      I have learned about copyright and fair use in school before, but I did not fully understand how important it is until recently. As a teacher, I would need to make sure I only use materials that I either created myself or that are allowed under fair use. I would also teach students how to respect the work of others when they are making their own projects, since copying without giving credit is not acceptable. This ...

Blog Post #2            Growing up, I never really used Microsoft Word much. Most of my schoolwork was done using Google Docs, which I’ve always preferred. Google Docs is just easier for me. It saves automatically, I can access it from any device, and it makes group work a lot smoother because everyone can work on the same document at the same time. Whether it’s writing papers, taking notes, or doing projects, I’ve always found Google Docs more convenient and user-friendly than Word.      One ISTE Standard for Educators that stands out to me is  Collaborator.  I think this standard is important because it encourages teachers to stay connected with their colleagues and students. Collaboration helps build a stronger learning community. This allows for the sharing of ideas, resources, and strategies. When teachers work together and communicate with their students effectively, everyone benefits. It creates a more supportive an...

Welcome to my first blog post!      In this class, I hope to learn how to effectively integrate technology into a classroom in ways that will actually help students learn and stay engaged. Since I plan on becoming an elementary teacher after I graduate, I want to understand which tools and platforms are most useful for my future students. I also hope to gain confidence with emerging technologies so I can adapt to the changes that will continue to happen in education.      In the past, I've used technology a lot as a student, especially in high school. In class, teachers would use online game study sites such as Kahoot to help prepare us for quizzes. To study, I relied heavily on the website  Quizlet. Quizlet creates flashcards and other helpful study tools with whatever information you provide it. During the pandemic, I also had to use Zoom to attend school and continue learning during lockdown. Zoom was groundbreaking at that...
